A New Procedure at Carney Hospital Improves Sleep Apnea without CPAP Mask
Carney Hospital is now offering an upper airway stimulation therapy called “Inspire,” a breakthrough obstructive sleep apnea treatment option for those who cannot use or tolerate Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) therapy.
Carney Hospital specialists successfully completed the hospital’s first surgical implant of this FDA-approved device on April 25.

Steward Health Care System has filed a Notice of Determination of Need with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health for a substantial capital expenditure by Good Samaritan Medical Center (“GSMC”) located at 235 North Pearl St., Brockton, MA 02301. The project is for the expansion of psychiatric services at GSMC through the construction of a seventy-seven (77) bed facility that will accommodate sixteen (16) beds relocated from the existing GSMC campus and sixty-one (61) new inpatient psychiatric beds (the “Project”).

Mountain Vista Medical Center (MVMC), a Steward Health Care Family Hospital, and the Donor Network of Arizona held a flag-raising ceremony this morning in honor National Donate Life Month.
“Most people don’t know that one donor can save up to eight lives with organ donation and enhance the lives of more than 50 lives with tissue and cornea donations,” said Damon Brown, Steward Health Care President of Arizona. “We hope this event inspires others to consider organ donation and register to become donors.”
