24-Hour Satellite Emergency Department to Open on December 27

Today, Steward Health Care System LLC (Steward) announced that the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) has approved the Quincy Medical Center (QMC) transition plan. QMC will discontinue operations at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, December 26, 2014 and the Steward Satellite Emergency Facility – Quincy will officially open at 12 a.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2014.

St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center Earns Accreditation for Echocardiography

St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, a teaching hospital of Tufts University School of Medicine, has earned a three-year accreditation in Echocardiography, a procedure that can assist in the early detection of life-threatening heart disorders and other cardiovascular diseases. The accreditation was awarded following a stringent review by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission.

Norwood Hospital Physicians named to Prestigious Boston Magazine “Top Doctors” List

Five Norwood Hospital physicians who were named to Boston Magazine’s 2014 annual Top Doctors list. The Norwood Hospital physicians are obstetrician/gynecologist John Al-Jamal, MD; pediatrician Jonathan Caine, MD; general surgeon Peter Lydon, MD; family medicine specialist James Macek, MD; and psychiatrist Norman Tabroff, MD.

For the second consecutive year, The Leapfrog Group has named Morton Hospital to its annual list of Top Hospitals. An elite distinction awarded to hospitals nationwide for demonstrating excellence in hospital safety and quality through the Leapfrog Hospital Survey, the Leapfrog Top Hospital award is given to less than seven percent of all eligible hospitals. The awards, which are given annually, were announced at Leapfrog’s Annual Meeting and Top Hospital Awards on December 2, in Washington, D.C.
