Colorectal Surgeon Romie Mundy, MD will discuss the diagnosis and treatment of rectal cancer during a free seminar at Holy Family Hospital at Merrimack Valley on Tuesday, November 3, 2015.

During his presentation titled "Rectal Cancer: Navigating the Treatment of a Complex Disease," Dr. Mundy will talk about the basic anatomy, pathophysiology and epidemiology of rectal cancer; describe how it is staged and the impact of clinical staging on treatment options; identify surgical approaches and discuss their indications and results.

Steward Appoints Roger D. Mitty, MD as Interim President of St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center

Today, Steward Health Care System LLC (Steward) announced the appointment of Roger D. Mitty, MD, as interim president of St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Brighton. Mitty has been a part of St. Elizabeth’s medical staff for more than twenty years. Most recently, he served as the Chief of Gastroenterology at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Vice President of the Medical Business unit of Steward Medical Group and Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine.

It’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month and it’s also a good time for women to think about mammograms and breast cancer screenings. On Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2015, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., the Women’s Imaging Center at Nashoba Valley Medical Center, 200 Groton Road in Ayer, Massachusetts, will host its annual Breast Health Day for women living in the Nashoba Valley region.

Holy Family Hospital is pleased to announce that Lisa Gruber, MD has joined the medical staff and Steward Medical Group.

Dr. Gruber earned her medical degree at Finch University of Health Sciences in Chicago,  where she earned the Dean’s Award, and then completed her pediatric residency at Lutheran General Children’s Hospital in Park Ridge, IL.

A board certified pediatrician, Dr. Gruber is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics.

Holy Family Hospital and Steward Medical Group are pleased to announce that Primary Care Physician Janice Lee, DO has joined Steward Primary Care of Southern New Hampshire.

Dr. Lee, who is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians,  attended University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, ME and completed her residency in family medicine at Massapequa General Hospital in Seaford, NY.

Dr. Lee cares for patients of all ages, but has an affinity for elderly patients, and skin conditions.

Holy Family Hospital to Host Domestic Violence Program

Holy Family Hospital is now accepting registrations for New Strategies for Addressing Domestic Violence- Assessing Recent Changes in Law and Practice.

This domestic violence program, presented by the Family Safety Project, features keynote speaker Judge Marianne C. Hinkle, associate justice of Woburn District Court, and chair of the Massachusetts Trial Court Domestic Violence Educational Task Force.
