Mary Winfield - Lung cancer

Mary Winfield admits it was a shock when she learned she had lung cancer. The Barefoot Bay resident hadn't smoked in over 35 years and thought it was just an infection when she began feeling excruciating pain.

Now, almost exactly a year after being treated by the thoracic oncology team at Sebastian River Medical Center, Ms. Winfield says she feels great, and everyone says she looks good as she approaches her 80th birthday.

We believe that every person who suffers a stroke has unique treatment needs in order to overcome the functional challenges that stroke can cause.

With a focus on helping the stroke survivor regain as much function as possible to resume an active and productive life, the program provides a variety of services to help patients adapt to any limitations or loss of ability caused by a stroke. Treatment deals with the many different kinds of impairment, which the stroke patient may experience – verbal, physical, emotional and social.

A Stroke Survivor and Caregiver Support Program is available the first Thursday of every month from 2:30 - 4 p.m. Please contact us at 330-841-3891 for more information.
