Obesity is a chronic problem in America. Today, more than 127 million Americans, 64 percent of the population, are overweight. Of these, 65 million are obese, and 10 million are morbidly obese.

It’s back-to-school time, which means it’s also the beginning of high school sports activities – and with them, the need for sports physicals.

Mountain Vista Medical Center & Desert Grove Family Medical are teaming up to offer FREE sports physicals for East Valley high school students, including incoming freshmen.

The free sports physicals will be offered in Mesa on Saturday, Sept. 16. Morning appointments on these dates must be scheduled in advance by calling (480) 834-7546.

Sharon Regional Medical Center announces the August health education and wellness calendar of events that are free and open to the public.

In commemoration of Parents’ Day on July 23, Norwood Hospital celebrated the hundreds of babies born in their Small Miracles Maternity Unit and the more than 4,000 children that have already been cared for at Norwood Hospital in 2017. Norwood Hospital delivers pediatric care in collaboration with MassGeneral for Children.

Primary Care Physician Sokharith Mey, MD will offer tips about the best ways to achieve optimal health, and once achieved, how to maintain it. Dr. Mey is fluent in English and Cambodian.
