Sharon Regional Welcomes New Director of School of Nursing

(Sharon, PA) - March 27, 2017 – Sharon Regional announced today that they welcome, Mary Jane Larmon, MBA, MSN, RN, as the Director of the School of Nursing. Mary Jane graduated with her nursing diploma from Sharon Regional’s School of Nursing, and went on to receive her BSN and a Post Bachelor Certification in Nursing Management from Pennsylvania State University. She graduated from Youngstown State University with a Masters of Business Administration and in 2016 obtained her Masters of Science in Nursing.

(Sharon, PA) March 27, 2017 - The Sharon Regional School of Nursing is preparing for the next incoming class of nursing students who will be scheduled to graduate in the year 2020. That class represents the 118st graduating class from Sharon Regional’s School of Nursing since the School opened its doors in 1899 to offer a Registered Nurse Undergraduate Certification program and graduated its first class in 1901. Over the decades, the School of Nursing has continued to turn out qualified, experienced nurses who fill much needed nursing positions in a wide variety of health care settings.

March 22, 2017 (Sharon, PA) –March is nationally recognized as Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month and Sharon Regional Medical Center wants to remind the community to learn more about colorectal cancer (cancer of the colon and rectum) and how it can be prevented or best treated.

Sharon Regional recognizes February Employee of the Month

March 20, 2017 - Thomas Barnett, a cook in the Nutritional Services Department at Sharon Regional Medical Center, was selected as the Employee of the Month for the month of February 2017.

Thomas joined Sharon Regional in 2016 where he served as a nutritional services aide prior to becoming a cook. He obtained his Serve Safe certification through the National Restaurant Association.

Thomas lives in Masury, Ohio where he is a volunteer First Responder/Level 2 firefighter for the Masury Fire Department.

St. Luke’s Medical Center, the first hospital in Arizona to offer a same-day coronary angioplasty through the radial artery in the wrist, is reporting significantly improved outcomes and cost savings for patients and the health system using the new artery access point. As a result, the less-invasive procedure is attracting national attention.
