Scenic Mountain Medical Center Treats Veterans to Free Meals on Veterans Day

In honor of Veteran’s Day, Scenic Mountain Medical Center (SMMC) will provide hot meals and care packages for Veteran’s on Wednesday, November 11th from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This year, since our café is closed to the public, SMMC will provide a drive-thru for curbside pick-up outside the hospital located 1601 W. 11th Place in Big Spring.

St. Joseph Medical Center Appoints New Chief Medical Officer, Stephen Nesbit, DO, MBA

St. Joseph Medical Center announced today that Stephen Nesbit, DO, MBA, has been appointed as chief medical officer. In this role, Nesbit will oversee quality, patient safety and service and serve as the liaison between the medical and administration.  He will also be responsible for leading the graduate medical education programs.

Flu season is officially upon us, and so is the coronavirus.

New to the Midtown Medical Group, but no stranger to treating patients for the seasonal flu with 35 years of experience, David Soo, MD, says because both conditions present similarly at the onset, it may be difficult for someone to tell the difference without receiving a test.

“It will be imperative for the medical community to provide both flu and COVID-19 testing, especially as we enter the colder months,” said Soo.

St. Joseph Medical Center Announces 3rd Quarter DAISY Award Winner for Compassion in Nursing

St. Joseph Medical Center announced today that NICU nurse Tiffany Tran, RN was the recipient of the 3rd Quarter DAISY Award, celebrating the skillful and compassionate care she provides to patients daily. 

Tran received the distinction for recently going above and beyond for a new mother who was in isolation. She constructed a personalized card with the baby’s footprint and included a positive message.

Halloween Drive-Thru Trick or Treat

The number of COVID-19 cases continues to rise locally.  And with Halloween just around the corner, many families are struggling with how to celebrate the holiday while still staying safe.

“Although many traditional Halloween activities can be high risk for spreading the virus, there are still several safer alternative ways to still participate in Halloween," said Dr. Rohith Saravanan, Chief Medical Officer at Scenic Mountain Medical Center.
