What is atrial fibrillation (AF)?
AF is an irregular heartbeat/rhythm in which the heart muscle fails to contract strong and rhythmically.  As a result, there may not be enough oxygen-rich blood being pumped out in the body.

ON CARDINAL DINARDO’S RECOVERY FROM A MILD STROKE

Mountain Vista Medical Center has been nationally recognized by the American Stroke Association with a Get With the Guidelines Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award. The designation comes as a result of the life-changing impact and the positive outcomes it continues to achieve with its stroke protocol that is based on the latest research-based scientific evidence. Additionally it received the association’s Target: StrokeSM Honor Roll award. To qualify for this honor, hospitals must meet quality measures to reduce the time between the patient’s arrival and treatment with tPA for ischemic stroke.

Ongoing Commitment to Quality Improvement Ensures Stroke Patients Receive Better Care

BRIGHTON, MA – St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center recently earned two awards from the Paul Coverdell National Acute Stroke Program at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH). St. Elizabeth’s received the Defect-free Care Award and the Dysphagia Screening greater than or equal to 90% Award from the organization.

Norwood Hospital received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines® - Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award with Target: StrokeSM Honor Roll.

One year ago, 84-year-old Betty Ozen presented to The Medical Center of Southeast Texas with stroke symptoms. As a part of the hospital’s telemedicine program, she was examined by a neurologist 100 miles away in Houston. She has now made a full recovery.
