Fall River, MA – Saint Anne’s Hospital, a Steward family hospital, has been awarded an ‘A’ for achieving the highest national standards in patient safety from The Leapfrog Group’s Fall 2020 Hospital Safety Grades. The designation recognizes Saint Anne’s efforts in protecting patients from harm and providing safer health care.

Saint Anne’s is part of Steward Health Care – the largest private, tax paying physician-led health care network in the United States – which leverages technology, innovation, and care coordination to provide the highest quality care and safety in communities where patients live.Leapfrog Straight A's 2012-2020

“For the 18th consecutive time since 2012, we are gratified to earn an ‘A’ grade from the Leapfrog Group,” said Michael Bushell, president of Saint Anne’s Hospital. “Recognition as one of just 29 U.S. hospitals to earn Straight A’s since grades were first assigned is especially meaningful in a year when all of us have been challenged during the global health crisis. Now more than ever, patient safety and quality of care are at the core of our mission, and we’re proud that our staff and providers have continued to deliver this to our patients.”

“To be recognized nationally as an ‘A’ hospital is an accomplishment the whole community should take pride in,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “Hospitals that earn an ‘A’ grade are making it a priority to protect patients from preventable medical harm and error. We congratulate hospital leaders, board members, staff, volunteers and clinicians who work so hard to earn this A.”

Developed under the guidance of a National Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. acute-care hospitals twice per year. The Hospital Safety Grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are free to the public.
