At 5 hours old, weighing one pound, a family was finally able to hold their precious baby. Prior to coming to Odessa Regional Medical Center (ORMC), they were told the baby was too small to survive. Months before, another baby was born that weighed less than a Coca-Cola can. These families were faced with challenges that no family even wants to have to consider. However, the ORMC Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) was able to achieve the impossible. “That wasn’t me, or Christine, or the nurses, or Dr. Patel; that was God taking care of that baby,” says Nancy Stark, Director of the Neonatal Unit.
