Morbid obesity has reached epidemic proportions, especially in Yavapai County, where more than 26 percent of adults are considered obese. Bridges Center for Surgical Weight Management will hold a free doctor-led seminar to answer questions and provide information about weight-loss options in Prescott on Saturday, Sept. 30.

For many battling obesity, and the serious life-threatening diseases it brings – including diabetes, high blood pressure and off-the-charts cholesterol – surgery becomes an option when diet and exercise alone cannot lead to weight loss. Choosing to undergo bariatric surgery is one of the most difficult decisions a patient can make; it is also tied to undeniably cathartic health benefits.

Open to the public, the free event will feature surgeons from the Bridges Center for Surgical Weight Loss at St. Luke’s Medical Center– which has been voted No. 1 in surgical weight loss management for three consecutive years in Ranking Arizona Magazine – who will share the latest bariatric information and options, as well as address common questions about weight- loss surgery. The team will share inspiring stories of patients who have triumphed over many health issues to lead healthier lives.

To register for the event, those curious about weight-loss surgery can RSVP to the Bridges Center for Surgical Weight Loss by calling 602-251-8828 or visiting BridgesAZ.com.
