All of our weight loss surgeries are offered at Sebastian River Medical Center (SRMC). In addition to being an outstanding medical center, Sebastian River is a fully accredited center of excellence (COE) in bariatric surgery. SRMC has been designated a bariatric surgery COE by the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons and American College of Surgeons. This means that the medical center has met or exceeded a list of stringent requirements ensuring quality and safety for our patients.
Our center offers several bariatric surgeries in order to individualize your care. The Steward team focuses on providing a safe, personal, and exceptional surgical experience with state-of-the-art surgical technology. Sebastian River Medical Center is proud to be recognized by Florida Blue, an Independent Licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association with a Blue Distinction® Centers+ for Bariatric Surgery designation, as part of the Blue Distinction Specialty Care program. Designated United Healthcare’s Optum Bariatric Center of Excellence
The Clinical Sciences Institute of Optum, the health services platform of UnitedHealth Group, has designated Sebastian River Medical Center’s bariatric program an Optum Bariatric Center of Excellence. Programs designated as an Optum Bariatric Center of Excellence perform more successful surgeries compared to other facilities in the area and have the outcome and quality data demonstrating a clinically superior program.
