3D Mammography

Sebastian River Medical Center is pleased to offer 3D mammography. This diagnostic tool, which offers the lowest dose of radiation available, can detect small breast tumors by taking multiple, digital images of the breast. The technology allows for enhanced examination of the breast aiding in early detection.

Patients who may benefit from 3D mammography include those at high-risk for developing breast cancer and/or have a history of needing follow-up diagnostic mammograms after a routine annual screening.

This technology, along with Sebastian River Medical Center’s trained staff, offer the latest in early detection in an environment that is focused on the patient.  Our radiologists are board certified, specializing in mammography and the early detection of breast cancer, and our staff are trained to care for the needs of the breast patient. If surgical services are required, Sebastian River Medical Center offers access to skilled surgeons within Steward Medical Group.

Breast Ultrasound

Breast ultrasound is used to examine breast abnormalities found during a mammography or clinical exam.  It is typically used to determine if a biopsy is needed and can also be used for women with breast density thickness over 50 percent, helping to differentiate tissues in the breast and find abnormalities that may not be seen on a mammogram.

Breast Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

MRI of the breast is typically used in conjunction with a mammography or ultrasound.  The MRI uses magnets and radio waves to produce detailed three-dimensional images of breast tissue.

Digital Stereotactic Biopsy

A stereotactic biopsy is a procedure that uses mammography to precisely identify and biopsy an abnormality within the breast.  This procedure is typically done when a radiologist sees a suspicious abnormality on your mammogram or ultrasound.
