It is with the greatest sadness to report that on the weekend of the 15th April 2018 Brewster “Taber” Hammond passed away in his residence, aged 33.

Taber was the most passionate and driven of individuals, both in his private and professional career. Upon starting his position as Clinical Manager of prosthetics services at Karin Grech Hospital, it was immediately obvious that he was the most organized, passionate, caring and skilled prosthetist that the Maltese Community could have hope for. He took on the challenge of patient care, organization and the complex logistics of his new position and within a few short months had succeeded in creating a service to be proud of. His obvious passion for life and for patient care showed in all aspects of his life, not only did all his patients have the highest respect for his clinical skills but also his level of personal engagement in their lives.

Taber will be greatly missed by all the amputee patients he cared for and by the staff at Medical Center Orthotics and Prosthetics at Karin Grech Hospital. This is a great loss for all. A minute’s silence will be observed at the Orthotics and Prosthetics Unit, at Karin Grech Hospital, today at 12.00 to remember Taber.

Further information regarding the funeral, memorial fund and contact with Taber’s family can be obtained upon request.
